Where Tradition Finds Its Breath

The Navarasa Pranaah Story

Dance Training and Choreography

The Name: A Philosophy in Itself

Navarasa — the nine emotions that form the essence of all human experience: Shringara (love), Hasya (laughter), Karuna (compassion), Raudra (anger), Veera (courage), Bhayanaka (fear), Bibhatsa (disgust), Adbhuta(wonder), and Shanta (peace).
Pranaah — the breath, the life force, the vital energy that animates all existence.

Navarasa (the nine emotions) + Pranaah (breath, life force) = the art of bringing emotions to life through classical dance.

When these two come together, they form the philosophy that defines our institution: Classical dance is the breath of emotion, the life force of expression

For over 12 years, Navarasa Pranaah School of Performing Arts has been a sanctuary where the ancient science of expression finds its breath in every young artist. Founded and led by the acclaimed Natyashree Smt. Jyothi Rajesh, we offer comprehensive training in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam, and Nattuvangam.

In the Natya Shastra, Bharata Muni codified the science of performance arts over 2,000 years ago. He understood that dance is not entertainment—it is rasa, the essence that creates an impression in the observer’s heart.

At Navarasa Pranaah, we return to this fundamental truth. We teach our students that every movement carries meaning, every gesture tells a story and every expression creates a connection.

Founded in 2012, our institution has grown from a small group of dedicated students to a vibrant community of over 100 learners, supported by six trained teachers. Yet our core mission remains unchanged: to nurture artists who understand tradition deeply enough to express it authentically.

Our Mission

To awaken the nine essences of human expression through the sacred science of classical Indian performing arts.
At Navarasa Pranaah, students don’t just learn steps—they discover the profound connection between movement, music, theory, and expression. They join an unbroken lineage (guru-shishya parampara) that spans decades, carrying forward the rich traditions of Kalamandalam and Kalakshetra.

Our Vision

To be a beacon of excellence in classical Indian performing arts education, where tradition meets innovation, and every student discovers their unique artistic voice.
We envision Navarasa Pranaah as more than a school—it is a sanctuary where the ancient science of expression (Navarasa) finds its breath (Pranaah) in every young artist.
